We had a great morning welcoming our new sixth-grade brothers to Garcia YMLA on Tuesday August 21!

We were so lucky to have the Mayor of Austin, Steve Adler, join us today. Mayor Adler told us about the first time he put on a tie for an interview to get his first job at an ice cream parlor, and taught us that any one of us could be the Mayor of Austin when we grow up!

We learned to say the Creed together, got our new ties and Mr McGruder, Mayor Adler, our teachers and other AISD staff helped us learn how to tie them for the first time.

We are so proud of our young men, here's to another successful year at Gus Garcia YMLA!
