Tutoring Reminders

Parents, last week physical report cards were sent home with the students. Please be sure to have a conversation with your young man about their grades and your expectations for the rest of the semester.

Mrs. Adams, our school counselor, will be calling parents for students who are failing their classes. The students on the failure list have are expected to attend tutoring on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00pm-5:30pm and Saturday tutoring camps starting this Saturday, November 1st from 8:30am -11:30am.

Free UT Science Camp

GeoFORCE Texas is a completely FREE STEM youth outreach program with UT Austin that takes students starting the summer after their 8th grade year on 4 week-long summer trips across the country. Through these trips they teach students geology, STEM concepts, options available to them after high school, and then continue to connect them to scholarship & internship opportunities during college. Their presentation will be in English and Spanish.

HopeFest 2025

It's only a few days until the 20th annual HopeFest Community Resource Fair on Saturday, November 1st at Northeast Early College High School! The excitement is growing as we get ready for this annual event that brings together 4,500 attendees from the St. John, Rundberg and surrounding communities with over 170 exhibitors and performing groups. Look at what we already have in store:

  • Free Flu Shots!
  • Free haircuts from six barbers!
  • Help with housing, employment, and other resources, including a job fair
  • Help with Health and Dental Insurance
  • Health and Dental Screenings
  • Vision Screenings
  • Free Children's Clothing

3rd Annual Canned Food Drive

The Student Council is hosting their 3rd annual canned food drive November 5th through 20th. Here are some of the most requested items for food pantries...

  • peanut butter
  • canned fruit
  • canned vegetables
  • canned soups & stews
  • canned meat like chicken breast, Spam, tuna, etc...
  • canned beans
  • rice, pasta, dry beans, and lentils
  • breakfast cereal 
  • pasta sauce
  • condiments like ketchup, mustard, and mayo
  • Snacks like granola bars
  • instant mashed potatoes, ramen, oatmeal 
  • baking essentials like sugar, flour, quick/rolled oats

Pre-sales for this year’s school yearbook are happening now! Yearbooks are $25 (cash only) and must be paid to Mrs. Barnes in the art room. Parents, please fill out the form on the QR code and send the cash payment with your student to school.

Sales will also go on at this years Fall Festival, Winter Concert, Fine Arts Banquet, and the Sports Banquet while items last!

This year’s book will include student photos, sports teams, awards, events, and more—don’t miss out on the memories!

Financial Literacy Program

Parents this is an amazing opportunity for your student to learn about financial literacy, receive a $20 gift card every class, as well as a $1,000 put into a savings account for their future. Last year we had 5 students graduate and 3 students the year prior. We would love to see the class size grow again this year!

  • About the Program
    • The Financial Literacy Program empowers low-income youth in grades 6–12 with the knowledge and skills needed to achieve financial independence and success.
       
  • Program Benefits (all at no cost):
    • Educational workshops on budgeting, saving, banking, credit, investing, career readiness and more
    • Visits to local banks/credit unions
    • $1,000 long-term investment opportunity (funded by iACT)
    • Gift cards ($20 per completed in-person session, up to $200 total)
    • Partnerships with community bankers and financial professionals
       
  • Program Requirements & Eligibility
    • Commitment to attend 10 in-person sessions (March, June and July 2026) and virtual sessions in January, February, April and May 2026
    • Students must be in grades 6–12 (ages 11-18)
    • Household income below 80% AMFI for Austin, TX
    • Must reside within one mile of a Project Connect transit line (see eligibility map linked here)
       
  • How to Apply
    • Interested students/families can scan the QR code on the flyer or complete the 2026 FLP Application.
    • Once an application is submitted, a registration meeting is scheduled to review program guidelines and process eligibility documents (proof of ID, income, residence, and school enrollment).
