What is NJHS?
The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) recognizes middle school students for excellence in scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship. Members participate in activities that fulfill these pillars, which include community service projects, academic support for peers, and events that promote positive behavior and responsible citizenship. NJHS helps students build leadership skills and create a positive impact on their school and community.
- Scholarship: Members are expected to maintain a high academic standard, and NJHS chapters encourage a love of learning.
- Service: Chapters organize and participate in community service projects, such as fundraising for local charities or providing support to the school and community. Members often complete a certain number of service hours each quarter.
- Leadership: Students are encouraged to take on leadership roles in their chapters and the school, promoting the organization's values through their actions.
- Character: NJHS promotes positive character traits like integrity, responsibility, respect, and empathy, with members serving as role models for their peers.
- Citizenship: Members are encouraged to be active and engaged citizens who understand and contribute to their community's needs.

NJHS Meetings
We meet every Wednesday afterschool with Dr. Royster (tangee.royster@austinisd.org) and Ms. Marble (novella.marble2@austinisd.org): We’re all about scholarly deeds!
Joining the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is a wonderful way to develop leadership, service, and academic excellence. Members have the opportunity to participate in community service projects, support school activities, and inspire others through their commitment and character. NJHS encourages students to grow as leaders, learners, and role models while making a positive impact on their school and community. In NJHS, excellence is more than a goal—it’s a way of life!
