We are proud to celebrate an extraordinary achievement from our Advanced Math program at Gus Garcia YMLA. During the 2023–2024 school year, our 8th grade Algebra I students earned a 100% pass rate on the Algebra I STAAR End-of-Course Exam—a truly outstanding accomplishment!
This remarkable success reflects the hard work and determination of our young men, who rose to the challenge of completing a high-school–level course while still in middle school. It also highlights the expertise and dedication of Coach V, our outstanding math teacher, whose high expectations, engaging instruction, and commitment to excellence helped our students shine.
By mastering Algebra I early, our students are opening doors to advanced high school coursework, early college credit opportunities, and accelerated pathways in mathematics and science.
