Our Gus Garcia YMLA Gardening Club is thriving—literally!

This week, our student gardeners proudly harvested their very first round of kale, marking an exciting milestone in their journey of planting, caring for, and learning from the garden they’ve been building together.

To celebrate their hard work and success, the club hosted a fun and healthy “Green Party,” where students sampled their fresh kale and enjoyed activities centered around the color—and power—of green. Alongside the celebration, students also learned about the nutritional benefits of the plants they are growing, including how leafy greens like kale support strong immune systems, healthy digestion, and overall wellness.

The Gardening Club continues to be a hands-on learning experience that teaches responsibility, teamwork, and the importance of caring for the environment. We are incredibly proud of our young gardeners for their dedication and excitement as they watch their efforts come to life—one harvest at a time.
